Marrakech day 2 part two
We headed out at about 7 to Zwin Zwin which was high on our must try list. Unfortunately, it was still raining so a sunset on their famous terrace was off. We'd passed it earlier today so we were confident of our route (well I was), so off we went.
After walking for about 20 mins we arrived and got seated. A lovely group of 3 from Chester gave us their bigger table as only one of them was eating. We chatted to the guy and it turned out they arrived last night and are leaving Tuesday night too. We had a good old chat and he even tried a bit of my dinner (we was with his wife and mother in law so this wasn't as sordid as it sounds).
Dinner was fantastic, gem had wholemeal cous cous with vegetables and I had a chicken pastilla. The pastilla is a sweet and savoury filo pastry parcel with chicken and nuts but topped with powdered sugar and cinnamon. It sounds weird but it was brilliant, flavour wise it was like chicken with peshwari naan. I had a bit of gemma's cous cous too cos she was saving room for dessert. I forgot to leave room for dessert. We decided to share a sweet pastilla for pudding, it was filled with dark chocolate, nuts and figs and other dried fruits and came with vanilla ice cream. We also got complementary mint tea and meringue kisses. I tried to eat my dessert but putting it in my mouth was a struggle. It was amazing though!
We settled up and the whole thing came to about £20, fantastic! I'd really recommend this place, especially if it is nice enough to sit on the terrace cos the instagram photos make is look super. We were next to an open window with a view of the old mosque so it was lovely as the light faded.
We decided to get a taxi back so we went and haggled them down from 50dh to 30dh (about £2.20) and we were on our way. Talk about a thrill ride, the roads here are mental and there are no pedestrian crossings so there are people and horses and donkeys and motorbikes and scooters and normal bikes everywhere. We arrived in one piece and I gave him 40dh and we walked through the alleys back to the Riad. I rubbed ibuprofen gel on gem's back and I think she's managed to get to sleep. I've just had a shower and their is no privacy so I am glad of her sleeping mask.
Things I haven't mentioned - I have serious game here whereas the men aren't interested in Gemma at all. The only time they speak to her is to offer her viagra for her husband!
Cooking class in the morning so I best get to sleep.

I love that you managed to haggle, I'm rubbish at that kind of thing.
