Orkney day 3
Our final day was quite sedate. K and her mum hit the charity shops of Stromness so I chilled on the sofa with my book. When they got back k and I went walk about the town.
We headed out for lunch and the Birsay Tearoom was our destination. It was a lovely wee place with loads of home baking. I had a baked potato with cheese and beans for my main course but I was really just waiting til I could order the bread pudding that I had my eye on. It was delicious and the coffee was great too. The other thing about the tea room is that they have amazing views down to the bay. Ann said you sometimes see whales there but not today sadly.
Our next stop was the Corrigal Farm Museum which was cool and FREE! They had some little lambs and chickens too. The farm was cool and it was amazing to see how people lived relatively recently.
We headed back to Stromness and K and I hit up the Stromness Museum. It was a really comprehensive museum with lots of very different sections from Archaeology to ship wrecks to birds and wildlife of Orkney.
After the museum K and I then went and filled up the tank for our journey home tomorrow. I was making dinner tonight so we got some ingredients at the co-op on the way back to the house.
The house is stocked with loads of home and design magazines so I read living etc before cooking. Dinner was channa saag so it didn't take to long to pull together. Unexpectedly, we got some Portuguese custard tarts in the co-op so we had them for dessert. I'd be delighted to find them at a supermarket in Glasgow so to get them in Orkney was a boon.
After dinner Wendy that owns the house came in for a chat. K's parents have been renting this house for years now so they are friends with her which is really nice.
We're currently watching Great British Sew Off (or whatever it's called) but we'll need to be heading to bed soon due to the early start.
All in all it has been a wonderful few days and couldn't have been more different than my holiday last week. We've been really lucky with the weather and I hope it holds out for a drive down the road tomorrow.

Seems like a great holiday, nice and chilled. I'd like that museum.
