Prague Day 2 - part 1
Our first stop of the day was the beautiful, modern, coffee shop Pauseteria just next to old town square for breakfast. We both had toast with homemade apricot jam and K had coffee and I had freshly squeezed orange juice - delicious. We highly recommend this place.
Next we popped into the City Hall to find their famous paternoster lift. If you don't know what that is it is a lift with no doors and it doesn't stop. K bottled it but I had a wee ride. She took terrible photos of my daredevil antics which I'll upload.
After that thrill ride we headed to the Old Town Hall. Top tip - the only way to see the old cellars is to do a guided tour. The English language tour is every 2 hours and we were lucky enough to just catch the 10am one. The tour is included in the price of admission and was really good. After the tour we went up to the top of the tower - luckily there is a lift! The views were spectacular, much as I've been complaining about being too hot all day it has made for great photos.
After the old city hall we just wandered about the old town for a bit then had a wee al fresco soft drink to cool down a bit. Our drink was at Grand Cafe Orient where we are hoping to go for a drink tonight but we just sat outside so no spoilers.
Our lunch was at Lokal and luckily we'd booked cos it was pretty darn busy. K had pork goulash with cabbage and potato dumplings and I had beef braised with bacon with bread dumplings. We halved our dumplings so we could each try both types but I was surprised that I preferred the bread ones. Lunch was delicious and very cheap. The dumplings and sauce were both bottomless but we were too full for seconds. As well as a normal beer I had a beer with raspberry soda which was made with fresh raspberries- delicious!
We spent the afternoon visiting Jewish Prague and visited 4 synagogues, a ceremenonial hall, the Jewish cemetery and a brilliant exhibition called My Cup of Kafka. It was great but we were fully exhausted after schlepping about in the sun so we've come back to the apartment to chill before dinner. I'm so glad there is a fan in the room!

Amazing. What happens if a lift doesn't stop though? Is it much like Charlie and the chocolate factory? Hope you get a cooler day tomorrow - drink lots of water. Hopefully you won't have to contend with mosquitoes there. The blight of mankind!
